About the writer
Born and raised in Virginia, Michelle has published three chapbooks (2007-2010) with Polican Publishing and a music CD, Try to Relate. Another music collection, Peace and Quiet, is digitally released under pen name, MiCKi in 2011. Recent writings earned awards from Massachusetts State Poetry Society, Charlottesville Area Transit, and VWC’s Inside Back-Cover Poetry. The original jingle “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” has been performed at charity Litter Awareness events with her collaborator, Earl Dixon. MiCKi has hosted Open Mic performance venues from Orange, Virginia to Bozeman, Montana as an outreach endeavor to promote artistic expression of the “everyday man and woman”. Michelle also worked with the short-lived band, Hiding Otis, and performed a variety of cover tunes by such artists from Pat Benatar and Pink Floyd in Manassas VA. She continues to write and is published in multiple poetry collections and occasionally performs live or has gallery showings of her pencil portaits.
Michelle and her husband support the Poetry Society of Virginia through sponsoring the category of “Honoring Fatherhood” in the Annual Poetry Contest due every year on Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday. All are encouraged to reflect on Fatherhood and submit your writing.
